Winton Earl Owens

Guyton - Winton Earl Owens, 90, passed away on February 4, 2018.
Earl retired from Western Electric with 38 years of service. He was a member of Pine Street Baptist Church and a previous CWA officer/member, a Guyton Athletic Association/Mary Owens Memorial ball field officer/member, and hunting clubs member. He was inducted in the Effingham County Sports Hall of Fame. Earl enjoyed farming, gardening, hunting, fishing, various/numerous pets, softball and baseball. He was a loving and generous daddy, husband, and friend.
He was predeceased by: his wife, Mary Brogdon Owens; parents, Emma Hodges and Geta Gasque Owens; his brother, G. B. Owens; and his parents-in-law, Margaret and Floyd Brogdon.
Survivors are: wife, Virginia Nichols Owens; daughter, Vivian (Wilson) Lawson; sister, Shirley (Herman) Bowers; stepchildren, Charles (Amy) Powell, Carol Shuman, Kevin Shuman; many nieces and nephews; special niece, Janet Brogdon Superchi; step grandchildren; and step great grandchildren.
A special thanks to his numerous medical caregivers.
Visitation will be from 11 am - 12 pm at Pine Street Baptist, with funeral service to immediately follow at 12 noon at the church on Tuesday, February 6. Interment will follow at Guyton Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made in memory of Mr. Winton to the Pine Street Baptist Church Missions Fund, P. O. Box 125, Guyton, Georgia 31312.
