Tolcher, Raymond “Ray” William, 73, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 2, 2022, surrounded by his family under the loving care of Sacred Journey Hospice in McDonough, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his father Roy Albert Tolcher, his mother Violet Mabel Tolcher, his sister Barbara Branscum, and infant brother Wesley Tolcher.
Ray grew up in Aiken, South Carolina in a loving home devoted to faith and community service. He lived the majority of his life in Georgia, recently relocating to Locust Grove. He spent 45 years working in corporate finance leading companies to success. His management style and work ethic were admirable and highly respected throughout his career. He loved his family deeply and enjoyed camping, spending time in the mountains, and annual family beach vacations. He devoted time daily toward crafting beautiful wooden crosses that he gave to people who were moved by them. He grew deeply in his Christian faith over this time. His wish for his family was a relationship with Jesus so that everyone might find peace and salvation.
Surviving are his wife of 35 years, Linda Sheridan Tolcher; daughter, Virginia Tolcher Resnick (Nathan); son, Raymond William Tolcher, Jr (Lauren); son, John Bradford Kelley (Monica); son, David Sheridan Kelley (Lynn); brother, Roy Clifford Tolcher (Mary Dell); brother, Richard David Tolcher; grandchildren, Ian and Will Resnick, Violet and Henry Tolcher, Kylie Fountain, Wyatt, Noah, and Trammel Kelley, Lydia Poe, Blythe Henderson, Ava and MaeBeth Kelley; great-grandchildren, Blakely Mclendon, Maci and Mason Fountain, Elias and Ezra Poe. Known as “Pop” to all his family, Ray was blessed throughout his life with a large extended family and community of loving friends.
Friends and family are invited to a memorial service at Sharon Church in celebration of Ray’s life, Saturday, July 30, 2022, at 2:00 PM. The church is located at 571 N. Ola Road, McDonough, Georgia 30251. Please join us for light refreshments and fellowship following the service.
